MGTI’s testing and certification programs are based on the requirements developed by the American Society of Sanitary Engineers (ASSE) Series 6000 Professional Qualification Standard. This standard outlines the specific knowledge, skill, experience, training and competencies that are required of personnel working with medical gas systems at healthcare facilities. The programs are based primarily on the code requirements identified in the NFPA 99: Health Care Facilities Code.
The certification programs offered by MGTI were developed to provide qualified individuals who are responsible for the proper design, installation, inspection, testing, verification, and/or maintenance of medical gas and vacuum systems with the certification necessary to ensure that the individual has met the requirements of the ASSE 6000 Professional Qualifications Standards and are technically competent and experienced in the field. Depending on the specific certification, candidates are tested for a basic understanding of medical gas systems general knowledge, applications, component overview, basic operating principles and performance characteristics, pipeline installation, brazing procedures, testing procedures, critical safety precautions, troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and common repairs. The programs were developed by ASSE 6050 and 6055 Certified Instructors. The certification programs are comprised of a verification of work experience prerequisites and required training, and written or online examinations. Some certifications include practical exams as well.
